Annemare Rijnbeek is a Dutch mixed media artist whose work lives in the space where abstraction and figuration meet. She begins every painting the same way: with colour, texture, and collage — no figures, no plan. Layer by layer, she builds until the surface feels alive. And then she waits. Until a shoulder appears. A head. A presence that was always there, hidden inside the paint.
Her work is about connection — the invisible bonds between people that cross cultures, languages, and time. A mother and child. Sisters. Two strangers who recognise something in each other. Inspired by mythology, Japanese concepts, and the quiet complexity of human relationships, her paintings hold both intimacy and universality. They invite you to come closer, to find the details that only reveal themselves when you stand right in front of them.
Rijnbeek's work is held in private and corporate collections and is regularly exhibited. She works from her studio in the Netherlands, where each new painting begins as a question and ends as a discovery.
